About Bernadette
I have spent over nine years helping pianists explore the exciting world of music making and modern keyboard production. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Music Technology with a focus on keyboard production, which shaped my deep passion for composing music for film, television, and video games. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and personalized to fit the unique goals of school students, college learners, adults, and working professionals.
I specialize in advanced topics like melodic writing, orchestration, sound design with synthesizers, and working with professional digital audio workstations. I have successfully guided students from intermediate and advanced levels all the way to professional and expert stages of their careers. Many of my students want to learn how to create massive, emotional soundtracks using only their keyboard and a computer.
I remember coaching an intermediate piano student who wanted to score a short indie video game but had no idea how to blend orchestral virtual instruments with synths. We worked on layering deep string sounds and editing the MIDI tracks to make the performance sound like a real, breathing orchestra. They successfully delivered a beautiful soundtrack that perfectly matched the mood of the game.

My teaching methodology focuses on demystifying complex music theory by showing you its practical application directly on the keyboard. We will dive deep into music theory fundamentals, chord progressions, inversions, and understanding harmonic analysis. This clear approach ensures that you do not just memorize notes but actually understand how music is put together.
I work quite often with students preparing for formal conservatory exams and dedicated players focusing on traditional classical repertoires. For example, I recently worked with a classical pianist who played beautiful pieces but struggled to memorize their music or improvise a simple transition. We broke down the harmonic structure of their sonata, and once they understood the chord progressions, their memorization became incredibly secure.
This deep theoretical understanding will ultimately enhance your physical playing and give you much more artistic freedom. We will build a strong, reliable foundation for both creative songwriting and spontaneous improvisation during our sessions. I offer tailored guidance in every lesson to make sure you have the tools to excel and reach your highest potential.
