About Lindy
The last 20 years of my professional life have been dedicated to teaching and examining English in a variety of schools and companies, and with individuals in Brazil. I am a Cambridge and Trinity certified ESOL teacher on a mission to help people open doors by mastering the basics of English grammar as well as the nuances and precision afforded by an extensive vocabulary and a command of natural idiomatic language.
Having learned Portuguese as an adult, I understand the challenges of acquiring a second language and the benefits that this brings in the academic, professional and social spheres.
I believe a friendly learning environment, with humour and warmth offers the best opportunity for success.

During 20 years as a teacher, I have developed expertise in working with students to prepare for English tests and exams, including IELTS, Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE, and TOEFL. I have a wealth of materials available and focus on techniques and strategies to maximise results. I have helped several hundred students to achieve their desired scores, enabling them to pursue educational and employment goals. I have been a Cambridge Speaking examiner for 12 years.
I also work with people of all ages seeking improvements in their general English skills, using the Lexical, Demand High and Communicative approaches to teaching/learning. Lessons are highly individualised to the interests and needs of each student using authentic written, audio and video materials. My classes are dynamic and my experience means I have the flexibility to adapt to whatever the student brings, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, fluency and pronunciation as the need arises.
Lessons are online and duration and frequency are agreed according to the student's requirements and availability.
