About Sathvika
I am a 21 year old diploma-level pianist. I have completed all grades, with Trinity Guildhall, as well as all levels of the Arts Award Scheme. I am an Associate of the Royal Schools of Music. As well as being awarded an A* and 9 at A Level and GCSE music respectively, I am a South Indian Classical musician (both vocal and Nattvangum) and was the leader of the National Choir for Indian Music. Having won SABRANG Musician of the Year and Regional Rotary Young Vocalist of the Year, I am well versed in many styles and genres of music. At University, I partake in various musical extra-curricular clubs and societies. Early this year, I was invited to perform Carnatic vocal at the prestigious Sheldonian Theatre as part of the Opening Oxford 1871 Concert, celebrating diversity and inclusion. Aside from my artistic passions, I have a love for wildlife and zoology and am currently a second-year Biology student at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford. I have been teaching piano for over 5 years. My first student received 100%, an extremely rare and praise-worthy achievement, in their first Trinity College London Performance Examination.

I teach students ages 8 and up via Zoom or in-person at my purpose built studio. No prior experience required. Casuals and beginners welcome! By incorporating various teaching methods and platforms (including use of technology), I aim to give students a holistic understanding of music. I tailor each lesson to the student's personal needs and will combine different aspects of music within the lessons. I encourage self-exploration through extemporisation and composition as well as contextual understanding. I believe that engaging students in discussions, interactive activities and hands-on musical experimentation will broaden their creative awareness. My studio is open so please do message me! I only teach during vacation periods. Workshops and masterclasses will consist of two/three day-long sessions focusing on a particular area of music (e.g. exam preparation, performance, composition etc). The topic will depend on the student(s)'s interests. I am happy to coach students who may be struggling with Graded Examinations and need help with preparation. I am also happy to support KS3 and GCSE music students in aspects of the course that they may struggle with/want to improve upon.
