About Tian
Hi! I'm Tian, a pianist and piano teacher with a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance from The Catholic University of America and 12 years of teaching experience. I work with students of all ages and levels — from young beginners to advanced students — with lessons tailored to each student’s goals and learning style.
My goal is to help every student build strong technique and musicianship while discovering real joy in playing the piano. I strive to create an encouraging and enjoyable learning environment where younger students can develop a lasting love for music, and adult students can learn, grow, and enjoy making music at their own pace.
Private lessons are available at my home studio in Annandale, VA, on a Kawai grand piano, as well as online via Zoom.

Each lesson is tailored to the student's age, level, and goals — whether that's playing favorite songs just for fun, building strong fundamentals from scratch, or preparing for recitals, exams, and auditions.
I teach children ages 5 and up, teens, and adults, from complete beginners to advanced students. Young beginners usually start with 30-minute lessons; 45- or 60-minute lessons are a better fit for teens, adults, and students working toward performances.
Lessons are held at my home studio in Annandale, VA on a Kawai grand piano, or online via Zoom. I don't travel to students' homes.
The first lesson is free — we'll meet, talk about your goals, and make sure we're a good fit before you commit to anything.
