Duration : 1 Hour - Price : £40.00 - Place : BirminghamMy name is Jake Anthony Scott, and I am a Doctoral Researcher (PhD Student) in Political Theory. My research involves an examination of the concept of 'the people' in contemporary populism, and how this is challenging or changing politics.
My specialities include ideological theory, conservatism, post-Marxism, and the history of political thought. I am especially knowledgeable in modern political thought, extending from Niccolo Machiavelli to contemporary thinkers such as John Rawls, Isaiah Berlin and Hannah Arendt.
Each session will focus on a key thinker, their history, major works and significant contributions to political thought, with some time to discuss each of these towards the end. I am very approachable, having taught in many different styles and institutions, and happy to spend time ensuring each student has understood the topic as clearly as possible.

Course setup
I have been giving lessons for three years now, in multiple settings, including one-to-one (both on and offline), small groups (up to ten) and large groups, giving me an excellent amount of experience in educating to a variety of needs and standards.
Many of my students have performed well, with my average grade for university classes in the 66% to 70% range, and all have expressed that their appreciation for my topics improved as the sessions progressed. What I teach is niche, and therefore not immediately to many peoples' tastes, but the student I do teach are always interested and engaged as a result of my methods.
