I am an experienced educator & literacy specialist with a strong background in early literacy, instructional coaching, & teacher development. With extensive experience supporting both students & educators, I bring a deep understanding of how children learn to read & how to effectively support diverse learners, including multilingual students & those who need additional academic support.
My work has included leading literacy initiatives & supporting evidence-based instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. I am known for my ability to break down complex concepts into clear, accessible steps, helping students build strong foundational skills while also developing confidence & independence as learners.

My approach as a tutor is rooted in building both confidence & strong foundational skills, especially in literacy. I use research-based practices grounded in the Science of Reading while also making learning engaging, supportive, & responsive to each student’s needs. I believe every student can succeed with the right instruction, & I focus on meeting learners where they are while helping them grow.
In my sessions, I use a combination of explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, & independent application. I incorporate strategies such as phonics & phonemic awareness development, vocabulary building, comprehension strategies, & structured writing support. I also use visuals, sentence frames, & discussion to support language development, particularly for multilingual learners.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review or warm-up to activate prior knowledge, followed by focused instruction on a specific skill. I then guide students through supported practice, gradually releasing responsibility so they can apply the skill independently. I consistently check for understanding & adjust instruction in real time to ensure success.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience as a literacy leader & instructional coach, including co-leading large-scale literacy initiatives & supporting teacher development. This allows me to bring both deep content knowledge & effective instructional strategies into every session. I also prioritize building strong relationships with students so they feel comfortable, motivated, & supported.
My lessons are designed for elementary students, as well as upper elementary students who need support in foundational reading skills. I specialize in working with struggling readers, multilingual learners, & students who benefit from differentiated, structured instruction.
I am committed to helping each student not only improve their skills, but also develop a positive relationship with learning & confidence in their abilities.
