About Ellie
DRAMA BACKGROUND
I have been on the stage since I was. 3. years old. During school and college, I did everything theatre. related that I could, including getting A levels in Performing arts. Then I graduated my Performing Arts degree in August 2018. During this time, I extended my knowledge in theatre, skills and confidence. I volunteered to teach sixth formers for 9 months throughout 2018/2019. During my time there I planned lessons, delivered lessons and taught valuable theatre lessons. I am now volunteering at a secondary school, working on getting my PGCE. I will graduate Summer 2021. I have taught A-level and GCSE Drama levels.
DISNEY HISTORY
In 2017 I took part in a summer program where I flew over to Orlando, Florida and I worked at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. It was a dream come true. I got to change lives and make dreams come true every day. My theatre skills came in handy here because some days I would have to be in character for 10 hours a day. This especially helped me master my IMPROVISATIONAL SKILLS as characters interact with guests and must be prepared to think on the spot when having conversations. There were also days when I worked in the costuming department (this meaning I was getting costumes ready for characters, dressing the other characters or even washing their costumes.) and lastly, I helped Disney Princesses do their makeup. This is important to my Theatre skills because when you’re performing a well-known play you need to make sure the costumes and make up are the exact same every day. The pressure of this role helped me master this skill.

Benjamin Franklin said "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” I think about this when I am planning my lessons because I understand that it is hard to learn when you are being spoken at, I make my lessons as engaging and I like to use myself as an example. There will never be a moment where I make a learner do something that I would not do at the front of the class myself.
If I believe a learner has low confidence, I give them the help they need to get on stage, project their words and even giving them *onstage hacks* that will help them during many onstage problems including times where they may forget their words.

Ellie has been teaching my daughter Tia who is 10 for the last 10 months, she has brought so much confidence out of her. She was so shy and got bullied at school, Ellie has given her the confidence to be who she wants to be! She tells me one day she will be on Eastenders using the skills Ellie has taught her!
