About Antonio
I am a second generation drummer/latin percussionist in my final year of my degree (Bachelor of Music Performance, majoring in drum set). I have over 10 years of playing experience and have recently started my teaching journey. I currently play drums in a funky latin/middle eastern fusion band that does all original material and also congas for a samba trio. However, I am experienced with (and have love for) all styles and genres as my degree covers the whole contemporary music spectrum.
I want to help people overcome barriers getting in the way of becoming the drummer they have the potential to be! I've encountered many of these barriers myself in my practice and found joy in devising ways around them. I'd love to impart this joy to others and hopefully inspire people to always try different approaches before giving up! I'm a firm believer that there's a place for everyone in music- it doesn't have to just be for those who respond best to the traditional methods.

I tailor my lessons to each student's learning style, strengths/weaknesses and musical goals. This means lesson 1 will start with a brief chat about what you want out of the lessons (e.g. to become a better improviser, build groove vocab, play jazz standards, enhance technique/sound quality/efficiency etc etc). Keep in mind your goals don't have to be specific, you might just want to become better all-round, in which case we will see what areas need most work and go from there!
