As a drummer, tabla player and percussionist, flexibility is mandatory. It’s essential for teaching and learning too. Some students like to focus on exams and grading, others want to be able to play in bands, and a few just want to play the fastest double bass drum rolls in the world! No one wants an environment in which attention isn’t paid to the students likes and dislikes.

I always aim to teach fun and engaging lessons that balance technical aspects of drumming and drum theory. I have found that motivating and inspiring students to practice regularly is essential to their learning and development. I have also found it is particularly effective to have parents involved in making sure their children meet the practice goals that are set.
My methodology will differ depending on the student and will be tailored to suit their needs. I will teach the fundamentals, but let the student lead the steps in their direction, providing relevant materials and action plans for their goals.
I excel in the construction of effective and individually tailored lesson planning involving a variety of different working assignments tailored to the individual abilities of each student focussing closely but not limited to: Rhythm Flair Playing in a band environment Coordination Rudimentary Discipline Sight Reading Tempo Dynamics Timbre I ensure that each student is fully...
How to do that ? • Positive learning, based on the respect and understanding of the child’s needs. • Structured teaching following the National Curriculum, record keeping. • Building personal lessons depending on pupils’ musical personality, enhancing with composition-technical-music theory tools and a variety of musical cultures/artists. • Achieve clear weekly goals.

I'm a drum kit, percussion and tuned percussion teacher with 25 years experience in both private and state education. I have also worked as a peripatetic teacher for the local authority. I'm use to a wide age range (5-65 years), varied abilities and am adaptable to personal areas of study and styles of music.
My teaching is based on what the student wants to learn and be able to accomplish, whether that be working through grades or learning drum grooves to songs/tunes. However, every student will learn the importance of a good, strong and firm foundation to playing drums, and I will teach them that.
My approach towards the drums is relaxed, fun and flexible as to what each pupils wants to get out of the drums - whether that be graded exams, learning their favourite songs or starting a career in the music industry.
Students dictate the general direction and focus of practical exercises, selected from thematic area's like independence, inter-dependence, performance stamina, consistency, and along side become equipped with the digital skills needed to collaborate, record and produce professional sounding mixes using Reaper. I only have two standards. Good posture. Good timekeeping.
Over the years of experience I've had, I felt hearing and feeling a piece of music really allows any musicians to learn without realising. Collecting musical ideas from various genres around the world is our source of information although everybody needs a guide. My primerial focus will always be on music and feel, technique and performance.
Lessons are fun and challenging. Former students include Jen Ledger/Skiller, Liam/The Enemy, Joe Clegg/Ellie Goulding. No subjects are off limits but I will help create logical learning programmes to maximise your development. No short cuts, just proven methods that build success. Written materials and recordings available for each lesson to reduce wasted practice time.
I approach the teaching of Jazz Drums from a musical point of view. My mantra is, that the aim of the game is to play music and my job is to give you the tools to do so. We will cover various techniques and a wide range of repertoire.
I taught myself how to play drums at the age of 16, simply because my friend asked me. I played primarily bass guitar back then, but before long, drumming took over my life! I had always wanted to find a self taught drummer that could pass on their knowledge from their individual experience, because at the end of the day, music is for sharing.
Creativity is, I believe, part of each individual; it just needs working out in different ways. I am qualified and capable of teaching all levels of drum kit (beginner-advanced) and beginner level guitar/ukelele.
I am able to teach students from all ages and levels (beginners to advanced) If you have a drum kit (acoustic or electronic), I can come to your place to teach you. If you don't have one, don't worry, you can come to my fully equipped studio in West London.
Throughout his career Max has always been an educator and offers private tuition. Max aims to motivate and inspire his students, whilst teaching them the key skills to master the instrument. arning the drums with Alisdair is a blast! His extremely friendly nature is paired with a great deal of passion and drive for teaching drums. Not only is he talented but a great personality to learn drums with too.

I primarily teach private lessons, but am open to a group setting. My lessons are very tailored to an individual's needs: once I've assessed someone's playing I have a very good idea of what they need to do to become a well-rounded player.
I teach the fundamental tools to give you the ability to approach any musical situation with confidence. Rather than teach 1000+ patterns, I show you how to rhythmically analyse any pattern to decode and learn for yourself.
I myself have been a part of a lot of different classes where I have been taught the foundations of the drums, whether it was in private lessons, or in my music class at school. As I've grown as a musician I have realized how important the foundation is. My lessons will do just that. With every client, I will assess the foundation, and see if it strong enough to be built up.
I strongly believe in sharing my experience as a professional musician to my fellow music students with the strong essence of theory. I focus on clarity, tone, and technique than anything else at the beginning and then as per the student's interest I guide the student in the specific direction of performance and advanced concepts.
I offer developmental drum lessons for individuals based on the techniques and methods I learned from my own instructors through the years. I believe that the best way to learn the drums is to learn and practice a diversity of genres before deciding to specialize, and to build one's skill from a "bottom up" methodology.
After understanding what your current level of playing is (beginner, intermediate, advanced), I will figure out what your goals are, or help you establish them.
