About Ava
I’m a 20-year-old student attending Durham College for Journalism and take great pride in my ability to teach. As a tutor, I’m patient, supportive, and focused on helping students build both confidence and understanding.
I have several years of experience working with children and students, which has helped me develop strong communication skills, organization, and the ability to stay calm and encouraging in challenging situations. I aim to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where students feel safe asking questions and making mistakes.
Beyond just improving grades, my goal is to help students develop critical thinking skills and a sense of independence in their learning. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely invested in each student’s progress and success.

I like to take a specified approach with my clients, so I take my time to make sure I understand their needs and goals in their learning. Together with the student I will create a learning plan that works best for them and am flexible to adjust it as needed. I like to make learning fun where I can so I tend to use metaphors and easy to understand examples while teaching. I’m very adaptable and am confident we will find the best approach for you in your schooling!
