About Austin
My name is Austin and I have just started a degree in physics and astronomy after getting A*A*A*A in my A-levels earlier this year. I have been tutoring on tutorful since June 2019 and in that time I have been lucky enough to help 2 students; one in KS3 maths and the other in GCSE science. With my help and a lot of hard work, one student in particular improved by 49% from their summer examinations when they were tested at the beginning of the current academic year. I have tutored my sister at home in both science and math at GCSE level causing her predicted grades to go up to 8's in science and a 9 in math (equivalent to a lower A* and high A*). My younger age allows me to better understand students issues with the course and where a deeper understanding may be required. In addition having done the exams a few years ago and taking those skills much further through A-levels and this year to university means I know what is expected.
I have also taught a course on mental health to a class of year 8 students during my time as a prefect in sixth form. These lessons contained delicate information however learning to deliver it in an engaging way resulted in the students having a stronger grasp on the topics and understanding their importance.
In conclusion I am hardworking, motivated and through my A-level studies in both maths and now at university I have the depth in knowledge to push students mathematical ability past anything required for their GCSE and A-level.

One of the key things to doing well in any type of exam is figuring out what you know and what you need to work on. I'll look at the students exam specification well before any lesson to make sure every little aspect is covered. I'll then look through past exam papers for questions on that topic and also to see what comes up more often. A lesson can be taken in any direction thats most beneficial but generally we'll start with an explanation, work through questions together and then the student can try questions for themsleves explaining their thought process to me.
Progress can generally be monitrered through a combination of the individuals work and their honesty. If a student knows one topic extremely well, there's no point wasting time explaining everything and so I'll just skip to the more obscure parts the topic just to make sure nothings left behind.
