Before the first class I normally ask the student what they want to focus on and work from there. From grammar explanation, to vocabulary lists I can provide anything that the student wants and am completely happy to work around topics that they want to study. I can look over (longer) pieces of writing if necessary and correct and explain spellings. I encourage watching lots of TV and listening to the radio as I think this is the easiest way to pick up and learn another language.
I took a year abroad last year in which I lived in France, meaning that I am completely fluent in French. There through this same website, I tutored a 74 year old French woman English for four months. She wanted to focus on her spoken Englishand over the course of the time that we had together, she greatly improved. The tuition only came to an end with my year abroad and I was very sad to leave her.
