About Maia
I am a first year Earth and Environmental science undergraduate at Lancaster University. During my time here at uni, and back home in the mountains of North Wales, I have learnt that a passion is really best shared. I set up a group in my secondary school to help students deepen their understanding in this way, improving their essay writing skills by adding new layers of complexity and evidence to their arguements. I believe it was these skills taught to me by a brilliant teacher in secondary school that helped me achieve A*s in geography, the sciences and maths at GCSE and A*s in geography and biology, an A in maths and B in chemistry at A level.

My teaching methods will of course vary depending on the student. I can cater for a wide range of needs such as:
-students who wish only to understand geographical concepts (e.g. coastal processes, urbanisation, volcanism etc)
-those requiring assistance in essay writing, research projects and geographical skills such as map reading and data collection/analysis.
-those looking for a deeper understanding of the many complexities of society and the planet today to help reach the top grades and find a passion.
Although the tutorials will be online I will try to make the process as interactive and interesting as possible for the student with the use of real world case studies, discussions and debates alongside the actual teaching to help the student develop their own unique understanding and arguements.
