About Riley
I graduated from Champlain College in May of 2022 with a professional writing degree and specialization in editing and publishing. Throughout my education, I was a peer tutor (both in-person and remotely) and earned a Master Tutor certification through CRLA. Now, I am an editorial assistant at Onion River Press in Burlington, Vermont, where I'm currently ghostwriting and editing a middle grade novel slated for publication later this year. I am a storyteller at heart, so in my personal time, I am working on a novel of my own design.

Writing can be an extremely frustrating feat, and this frustration is often the biggest obstacle to progress. I believe that confidence in one's work is just as important to success as focus and hard skills, so I strive to acknowledge my students' strengths while targeting areas that need improvement.
Putting original thoughts into comprehensible sentences is also a vulnerable act. Such a personal activity requires a personal approach, so I prioritize maintaining an environment of trust, patience, and adaptability. After a lifetime of helping family and friends with essays and 2 years of professionally tutoring peers at Champlain College, I've found that honest conversation in a casual environment lends itself to courage and success. In this way, I can adapt to my student's unique learning styles, not the other way around.
I am open to students from late elementary school to high school who are in need of extra help with essays, stories, resumes, or college applications. If you'd like to chat, please say hello!
