About Kim
I taught high school Spanish for 26 years. Although I taught all levels, I spent the majority of my classroom career teaching AP Spanish Language. My students' average score was a 3.8 my last year in the classroom. Many of my students went on to study Spanish in college and several studied in a Spanish-speaking country. I spent the last four years working as a counselor in a Title 1 elementary school whose population was largely Spanish-speaking.

I was not a heritage Spanish speaker, and I remember a time when I did not think I would ever speak Spanish. I use that memory to encourage learners to give their best; my job is to make their best better. For beginning learners, I try to make the language relevant and teach skills and vocabulary based upon student interests. For more advanced learners, I teach grammar and vocabulary prescriptively, remediating problems in production rather than perhaps reteaching entire concepts.
