  • When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

Ever since I was in high school, I had the motive to teach other classmates the concepts we learned in class. I never thought I would pursue this hobby up until I attended a seminar about communication and teaching. It was then that I decided to adopt this hobby as a part-time job and invest in this field of private tutoring; where I could simultaneously help others understand concepts I have mastered in the past.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, and the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less)

Having taught different students from basic elementary to postgraduate students, it's safe to say that I teach with excellence all science subjects. From Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
These basic and applied sciences are topics I'm comfortable teaching and discussing because they are all beautifully interlinked and to me constitute the essence of knowledge.
  • Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

My role model is myself. I believe there's no model human being in our world. Each and everyone should look at him/herself and aspire to improve all the little details. This is what I do every day, waking up to succeed more than my yesterday self.
Nevertheless, some teachers did leave a mark during my educational journey. She was a history teacher, teaching me a topic I'm not at all a fan of. However, she managed to hook up my attention and indirectly made me want to invest efforts and learn more about her course. Up until today, I still meet with her to learn more about her professional skills and intellect.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe the qualities required to be a good tutor are both general and specific.
First, in general, a good tutor should be patient and understanding. Tutoring is a very sensitive job because it requires transmitting information to someone else. Hence, communication skills are also a priority.
Second, as specific, one should not only be capable of the material but comfortable enough to transform this material in his own way to fit the student's needs. Every student whether he likes or dislikes the topic needs a very personalised way of teaching to answer his needs.
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

Back when I first started to help my classmates with homework during school years, I use to do it out of kindness because they needed my help. Nevertheless, once I was helping this new kid in school with his maths assignment and I remember him leaving on the table a sort of meal box every time I finished helping him.

I would come back the next morning and I would see him smiling and picking up the empty meal box. It happened every single time, up until I decided one time to stay in the room even after he left with this meal box. A few minutes later, I saw my friend Josh coming in asking for the dessert box. When I confronted him, he laughed and said "I get free food every Tuesday afternoon!"

I wonder why. And this is how I learned that services could be SWEETLY rewarding.
  • Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

The only difficulty I faced was my schedule. Being an Engineering student who's applying for his board exams, and actively being a research assistant; this leaves only a little time to spare.

Nevertheless, only taking a few students and correctly managing my schedule, I do succeed at overcoming this challenge and fully giving my students all the time they do require.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

My passion is to help people. I chose to be an Engineer with the purpose of helping them solve scientific problems and raising awareness. This goes with the passion to help people via teaching and overcoming their difficulties in a particular course or topic.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to always handle each student as a Superstudent. Once I'm chosen to be his/her tutor, the student becomes my utmost priority.
    Thank you for the privilege.
