I try to teach through tutorial-style classes; i begin by giving the student a problem and guiding them through the process of dividing it into manageable blocks which can be solved more easily. I do this by asking leading questions rather than simply showing the student how to do a particular type of problem to avoid the habit of "teddy-bear learning," where the student becomes intimidated by formats of problem they haven't encountered before.
I am a student currently studying Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. Before I moved to Edinburgh I have been giving classes up to GCSE level in Maths and Physics at home in Cambridge. Due to my teaching style, which i developed based on that of my mother's (A mathematics teacher and a developer of teaching resources at Cambridge University,) I typically raise my student's results by at least one grade. Furthermore my tutelage will help to develop an analytical problem solving style beneficial to the mathematical an physical sciences.
Lessons for students at National 5/GCSE or below are £10 per hour, £42 and £75 for 5 and 10 hours art once, respectively.
