My lessons are for anyone up to degree level or beyond. I am confident in navigating the criteria of different exam boards and tutoring across different age brackets.
I can provide tailored feedback on essays and short stories. I will go through this feedback personally with you in a session, discussing argument strength, tone, and any grammatical mistakes. Alongside this, I provide bespoke reading lists of additional material to consult. These sessions would usually last around 30-60 minutes depending on the length of extract and your personal needs. While this approach works well on critical essays, I find that this one to one feedback works effectively on clarifying and strengthening short stories too.
Moreover, I can also provide individual one-off lessons on given texts (poetry/prose/drama) and I can focus on themes you find particularly engaging. With this approach, I will also provide a bespoke reading list of secondary sources. These sessions are usually an hour long.
My prior employment as a tutor for a disabled adult at university has ensured that I am confident in providing bespoke help to a university level standard. Ultimately, I take into account the needs and unique interests of my clients to ensure a professional but engaging classroom environment.
