About Lucy

I have been teaching children and adults since 2008. In 2014, I gained my CELTA qualification from Cambridge and have followed a Cambridge-based teaching approach ever since. In December 2017, I co-founded an English language academy in Mexico. The academy has worked with major companies including Wolong, Johnson Controls, Smithers-Oasis, Casas Javer, PASA (GEN), Banregio and Kwangjin. Through this experience, I have helped students achieve their goals in General English, Business English and Academic English. I am also a Cambridge examiner and can support students preparing for IELTS Academic and General Training, TOEFL and Cambridge English qualifications, including A2 Key (KET), B1 Preliminary (PET), B2 First (FCE) and C1 Advanced (CAE). After 12 years in Mexico, my family and I have moved back to the UK. Our English academy remains fully operational in Mexico and is now managed from the UK.

About the lesson

My lessons are fun, engaging and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I focus on developing all four key language skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing—while providing extra support in the areas the student finds most challenging. I have extensive experience teaching Spanish, French, Korean and Chinese speakers, and I enjoy getting to know my students so that lessons can include useful vocabulary and real-life situations relevant to them. My lessons follow a Cambridge-based approach and focus on British English, with activities and materials adapted to each student’s level, goals and learning style.

I met her at my daughter’s school as the mother of one of her classmates, and we developed a wonderful friendship. She has an incredible ability to build, maintain, and genuinely enjoy relationships, both professionally and personally.

I consider her a truly valuable person who approaches her profession with a strong sense of responsibility and dedication.

I had the pleasure of having English lessons with Lucy for a year, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She is an excellent, patient and dedicated teacher. My English improved so much during that time, especially my confidence when speaking. She made every lesson enjoyable and always encouraged me to do my best. I’m very grateful for everything she taught me!
