About Sophie
I'm Sophie and I live in Stroud, UK. I have always had a love of words, storytelling and writing and I love supporting other people to enjoy these things also.
I know that the way some curriculums and learning environments are designed make it difficult for some people to get to grips with English, English Literature and Creative Writing. I am here to support those who need a little extra support to feel confident in the way that they write and interact with other writing.
I have over 5 years experience delivering creative writing and poetry workshops to children, teenagers and adults. I have also worked as a learning assistant in SEND schools. I have also worked 1:1 giving creative mentoring sessions to young adults and adults.

I offer tutoring sessions that are uniquely designed for students to enhance their learning in whatever area they are needing support with (English, English literature, CV/personal statement writing, essay-writing, Creative Writing).
I am neurodivergent myself and approach my teaching work from the perspective that everyone learns and absorbs information differently. In lessons we work together to find out how you might be best supported to grow, flourish and become confident in what you are studying. I tend to incorporate a refreshing mixture of structure and play into my lessons so that we can enjoy and stay engaged with the learning process.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes although they can be longer upon request. They might involve reading, analysing writing together, practicing essay writing/forming an argument, games, interactive and fun creative writing prompts, creating engaging ways of remembering quotes and other information. I also offer lessons where we can work together to craft a CV, personal statement or other kind of application.
I have a BA (2:1) in English Literature (from Bristol), and an MA (1:1) in Creative Writing and Education (from Goldsmiths). I have 5 years experience in facilitating creative writing workshops for young people and adults. I have also worked as a teaching assistant in several SEND schools.
I work with all ages and levels, including 11+, GSCE, A Level, university level and those who are simply wanting to explore creative writing for fun.
