I give lessons to a variety of students such as those studying for their 11+ exams as well as those studying for their GCSE's and A-Levels. The structure of my lessons are based on the individual student and what they are currently struggling with and what needs improvement. I like the lessons to be practical and active so that I can see the progress that the students are making and so that I can ensure that they are developing. This may include writing paragraphs with time restrictions followed by me marking the work, quick games to ensure that students are comfortable with specific vocabulary as well as giving focused feedback on their essays. For the younger children communication and conversation is vital as I like to give them the independence to explain to me why they are convinced of a particular answer in order for me to ensure that I can understand them as students.
I am currently an English Literature Student at the University of Leeds. I achieved an A* in English literature and A in English Language for my GSCE's. For A-Level I achieved A's in both subjects and I am very familiar with the new curriculum and form of assessment. I know what it takes to be a successful student and the standard of work that examiners are looking for.

The reason I am passionate about teaching English is because I see its relevance in the world today. English literature is powerful in engaging readers with different experiences and cultures and in doing so it broadens individual's perception of the world. English language is vital in a world that is increasingly becoming digitised and English as a language is transforming and adapting faster than ever. Experiencing an excellent quality of English teaching at primary, secondary and A-level propels students confidently and reassuringly into a competitive world as strong individuals.
