About Shelby
I teach English as a second launague. I have certification in TEFL and working on certification in Business English, young learners, TOEIC, IELTS, and teaching online. I have experience working with a rage of people from different ages and backgrounds. I have worked with students that are nearly fluent in English and just need help practicing to students that have never spoken a word of English. My bachelors degree is in Communication with a Minor in writing. I use my degree to help give me a different view point of teaching language, as although I agree grammar and structure is important that most important part is communicating. I focus on grammar, listening, writing, and reading, the main focus depends on each student.

I love teaching and believe the best way to learn English is through discovery. Due to these beliefs I give one on one classes that are personally tailored to each persons needs. My classes tend to be conversation and game base. This helps make the learning experience more fun and less overwhelming. Of course if a certain teaching style works best for a student I adopt my style to the needs of the student and what helps them learn the best. As everything is so tailored I don't base my classes off of one thing. My first class with each student is a time to try to learn what the goals are for the student and get an understanding of their ability. It is after that first class I will build a full specialized curriculum based on the student needs and specialized goals. Learning any language is about discovery, and I take on the role of guiding you through the discovery in a fun and way specialized to you.
