About Jamie
My sessions are specifically designed to engage students and to help them develop the skills they need to become confident and successful writers, readers, and speakers. In order to fill the need for scaffolded lessons focusing on common skill gaps, I created programs that are standards-based and address the specific needs of the student being tutored.

I believe students need to be engaged in hands-on activities for meaningful learning to occur. Just reading from a textbook or listening to a lecture doesn't spark creativity. Students today have been raised in an Internet, knowledge at your fingertips, click and information is right there - type of world, so I design my lessons to capture their attention and keep them interested.
By breaking the concepts of writing and grammar down into easily understandable chunks, I have seen students begin to fully understand both processes as a whole. When they experience success in the various stages and portions, they become more excited and self-assured about all aspects of their English class.
