In the first session I will give the student a short exam covering the parts of the relevant specification that they have covered thus far to determine what topics should be focussed on in the subsequent sessions. During each subsequent session I will explain the concept, go through an example and set the student a worksheet on the topic. I will then set a short homework exercise on the same topic to help the student to consolidate their knowledge. I believe that building a good relationship with the student is essential for tutoring to be effective. I am friendly and professional.
I have 11 A*s or equivalent at GCSE, including a 9 in Mathematics and an A^ (equivalent to an A**) in Further Mathematics. I have achieved 4 A*s at A-Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Economics.
I have experience as an A-level maths tutor, helping pupils understand difficult concepts and achieve top grades. I have also been involved in a Mathematics GCSE mentoring project in secondary schools, for which I mentored around 30 students whilst in sixth form. This has developed my ability to explain difficult concepts in an accessible way. Furthermore, I was involved in a Mathematics mentoring project during secondary school, for which I mentored around 20 students.
I went to sixth form with James. He is great at explaining difficult concepts in ways that are easy to understand. He used to lead study sessions in A-level Maths for his friends and they were always very helpful and well thought through.
