I work on a one-to-one basis with my students, either online via Zoom/Skype, or in person.
My approach to teaching begins with building a strong relationship with my students. Finding out their passions, interests and goals; in other words, what makes them tick! I aim to create a relaxed and non-judgemental atmosphere in my lessons. I find that being encouraging and using humour in my lessons helps put my students at ease, which is conducive to a productive and positive experience.
Having established a teacher-student relationship and an effective learning environment, I am able to tailor my lesson content around the interests of each individual student. My lessons are followed up with weekly personalised eBooks, to help my students practise. These are filled with TABS, sheet music, backing tracks, and lesson notes.
The effort I put into creating a truly personalised experience allows my students to reach their playing goals, and enjoy the freedom of creative expression.
I am a professional Session Guitarist, with over ten years of industry experience.
Having played all over the world with various live acts, my love for inspiring young musicians has grown over the years.
This has lead me to take up guitar tuition as a central part of my work within the music industry.
I have five years of experience as a private guitar tutor, giving lessons in a one-to-one format. This experience has been extremely beneficial, and has certainly informed the teaching methodology I use today.
Working in a one-to-one environment has taught me the importance of creating a personalised experience for one's students; treating every pupil as an individual musician, and ensuring that no two lessons are quite the same.
I have experience in group tuition as well. I worked for Rocksteady Music School - as one of their peripatetic "Band Leaders". This involved working in seven local schools on a weekly basis, teaching groups of pupils how to work together to learn and perform a song every term.
This job taught me to be adaptable as a teacher, and to keep students engaged and passionate about the task at hand; performing music!
I have a cancellation policy which requires my students to give me 48 hours notice if they wish to cancel/reschedule a lesson. After this, the lesson will be charged.

Having worked with Will for many years on a professional level, I can vouch for him as an experienced, reliable and distinguished musician. I have witnessed his tutoring and was incredibly impressed. He is patient, excellent at explaining musical concepts and injects contagious enthusiasm into his lessons. The bespoke digital practice sheets that he makes for his students are second to none. I wish I had had those resources when I started out on guitar! On top of all this, he is a lovely, honest and trustworthy human.
Will is a fantastic guitar teacher, cannot recommend him enough! His depth of knowledge and ability is second to none. I have been having lessons with him for just over a year now and my playing capabilities have come a very long way. He has always tailored lessons around things that I want to learn and enjoy, whilst still embedding the essential techniques and skills within the lesson that help to make me a better player. I receive personalised practice sheets after every lesson with lots of things to keep me busy, these often include backing tracks, sheet music, tabs and reminders of how to apply effective technique. To top it all off, he is just a lovely bloke who is so easy to get along with. I always feel extremely comfortable when playing something to him or learning new things from him!
I cannot recommend Will more, his tutoring style , attention to detail, friendly and warm approach is so easy to learn from. His practice sheets are tailored to my playing and the songs I am interested in learning. I have learnt more from Will in just a few weeks than years of playing with my previous tutor. Thanks Will!
I've been taught electric guitar by Will on and off for around two years now. When I started playing I was a complete beginner, I've progressed from simple songs to improvisation in different styles. I have lessons via zoom, Will is always flexible and fits around your schedule. Will is a young and passionate teacher, always pushing me each week to improve, and is always a text away if I need anything. His practice e-booklets are so useful for practice, providing me with homemade backing tracks, in different speeds with the tabs included. Overall I would recommend Will to any aspiring guitarist who wants make fast progress and have fun along the way!
