About Priscila

Priscila Oprescu is one of the most promising young pianists of her generation. Praised for her highly dynamic and expressive playing, she has garnered a reputation as one of the upcoming young musicians in the UK.

Born in Romania in 1998, Priscila started playing the piano at the age of six and by the age of nine had won first prize at Concours Musical de France in Paris. Since then, she has been the prize-winner of over 30 international and national piano competitions.

Besides taking part in several piano competitions, Priscila is often invited to perform at various venues across the UK, as well as in Italy and her native country. Highlights of her more recent performances include appearances at the Wigmore Hall in London and at the Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli Concert Hall in Bolzano, Italy.

Having cultivated a profound understanding and love for the arts, Priscila is constantly seeking new ways to innovate the sphere of classical music. Her concert programmes are centered around the idea of preserving and honoring the classical tradition, whilst incorporating modern and fresh perspectives into the classical repertoire. Priscila is an ardent performer of contemporary classical music, often playing works written by living composers, with a focus on female composers from ethnic minorities.

Priscila has recently graduated with First Class Honours from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London where she studied under Professor Yekaterina Lebedeva . During her studies she was awarded both the Arthur Haynes and Jimmie Cross Prize Fund Scholarships and was generously supported by the Henry Wood Accommodation Trust and the Finzi Trust. After having won The John Longmire Competition in November 2020, Priscila represented Trinity Laban in Oxford as a finalist of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Competition in 2021.

Since moving to London in 2018, I have been in great demand as a piano teacher for both children and adult learners of any levels. I have been preparing students for ABRSM grade exams for several years with 100% pass rates.

My aim is to inspire my students and to give them the highest quality lessons they can have in a warm and welcoming environment. I believe every student should leave their lessons feeling encouraged and inspired, but also curious to discover even more of the beauty and the art of piano playing.

I like to create an exciting and welcoming environment for my students to develop in their own time and at their own pace and build the strongest foundations in piano playing. I help every student achieve their individual goals, being that exams, competitions or purely the enjoyment of the music.

Being an active performer myself, I make sure to not only teach my students to play the piano, but also train them to achieve a successful performance no matter their previous experience with the stage.

My lessons are tailored to the unique needs of every student. In the lessons I use my deep pedagogical and artistic knowledge acquired from 20 years of professional development as a classical pianist where I studied under the guidance of a number of distinguished pianists. Having a strong Russian and German foundation in music allows my approach of teaching to merge the greatest traditional styles of piano playing with up-to-date, modern methods.
