About Lydia
I am a college graduate with a TEFL certificate. I completed a semester-length practicum that required extensive time in the classroom, including opportunities to teach, assist, and observe.
For four summers, I worked for Upward Bound (a college readiness program) and helped prepare students for college through fun activities. Part of my position was to assist students in their summer homework lessons.
I am patient, personable, and empathetic. I love spending time with students and seeing the progress in their education.

I like to use different types of teaching to ensure each student is being taught how they learn best. It is important to me to ensure students are truly understanding the content, even if it takes a few different techniques!
A typical lesson plan would involve multiple methods for understanding the information, as well as time to practice the skills with me. I like to include games and activities that might help the student think differently.
We will likely spend time using different mediums to practice or study content. For example: if we were learning the fifty states, we would practice first by speaking the name of each state, then writing each states name in correlation to a map. Once we have a brief overview, we would move to learning a song in order to memorize them. We would then focus on a group of states at a time and learn something specific about each. During this process, we would continue to memorize the names, while learning about American geography and culture.
Of course, the subject matter might be something completely different than this- so it is mostly important to notate the different forms of learning material and practices.
I am twenty-two years old, and am very in touch with the younger generation. I understand that most students now have a hard time focusing on one thing for a long time, which is why my teaching methods are highly stimulative and exciting for the student. I am easy to work with and able to adapt to different types of students.
