About Akil
Hello, my name is Akil, I am a native English speaker and Teacher who has a passion for helping others learn, as I believe it is a beautiful language that helps open doors to many opportunities. I have been teaching English for the past five (5) years now, both face-to-face and online sessions all of which were curated to meet the needs of my students.
I have been teaching for 5 years, I spent a year in Guangzhou (广州), China as a Homeroom Teacher for kids (ages 4-7 years old), and a year teaching as a language assistant in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (ages 12-15 years old). The majority of my teaching career has been spent gaining meaningful experience teaching English online to business professionals and kids from all around the world.
I also hold a master's degree in Teaching, a bachelor's degree in Engineering, and a 120-hour TEFL certificate. I believe all students are capable of learning, it is however, up to us as educators, to curate and customize our lessons to fit the needs of each student.
I will put my all into ensuring that you see real improvements as well as get a firm understanding of the language itself. learning a language is HARD, so let me help you!
