I am able to tutor in my own home in Sutton-in-Ashfield but am also able to travel to the student for lessons. I live in Sutton-in-Ashfield and am willing to travel to nearby towns: Mansfield, Kirkby, Tibshelf for example.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught Maths in a range of schools in the UK (Liverpool, London, Dronfield Woodhouse and Basildon) and in two schools in Zimbabwe, initially with VSO, an International Development Charity. My MSc in Mathematical Modelling qualification enabled me to re-join VSO, this time working in their International HQ in London recruiting teachers for their Aid programme. Relocating back to my home area I spent 3 years in a local secondary school as a Data Manager, where I additionally did 1-1 tutoring. I enjoyed this so much that I decided to return to my first love of teaching Maths. My 3 years of self-employment have been fabulous. In the months leading up to the GCSE's I was fully booked - with increasingly my students coming via word of mouth recomendations.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
To Kate, I just wanted to say a huge thanks you for everything you have done for me. When my Mum rang you I had lost all faith in myself but after my first lesson that faith was quickly restored. Thank you for making me more confident and helping me so much.
Holly was behind and in the lowest maths group. In a Maths exam, taken just before her lessons with Kate started, she scored only 17%. Her Spring Mid Term report stated that she was below her 5C target, achieving a 3B level. Her Summer Mid Term report shows that she in now above target in Maths with a 5B grade and she has been moved up a set.
Kate is always prompt and very reliable. She has a very friendly approachable personality which has helped my quiet daughter feel very at ease. She was able to work out Hannah's weaker areas very quickly and focus on working through them with her. Hannah felt more confident in the lead up to her Maths GCSE exam due to the time and care taken by Kate's teaching. Hannah got a B in maths. She was so happy.
