About Nia
As an instructor/tutor with over 10 years of experience, I love working with students to improve their confidence in learning and writing, along with guiding them in reaching their goals. Whether you're writing an essay for a course, scholarship, admissions, or to claim first place in a writing contest, I would be happy to guide you with the writing process. I am an empathetic and culturally competent tutor. As a university instructor, I worked with a diverse set of learners. I will meet you where you are as a learner. If you are aiming to get accepted into your dream university/college for undergrad, graduate, or professional school, I will assist you with crafting your unique story that highlights your accomplishments and resilience. In the process, I will support you with writing essays for scholarships so that your dreams will become a reality. I have experience with WAC-writing across the curriculum. If you love the subject, but dread having to write papers on it, I can ease the process for you. You love reading books, but struggle to write? Let's work together to build your analytical and critical thinking skills, along with writing. Maybe the love isn't there but the papers must be completed. I completely understand and can build your skills so that writing essays are less daunting in the future. I can't wait to start helping you reach success as your tutor.

I primarily tutor students at the university level and 11th and 12th graders. I like to briefly discuss goals for the tutoring session(s) and concerns around writing, if any. I specialize in writing, particularly for admission essays. I love guiding students with any form of writing. My advanced degree is in comparative literature, so I have a deep understanding of writing on literature. I believe in catering the lesson to meet a student's needs based on their level of understanding the material and personality. Being adaptable during my sessions is very important to me.
