About Steven
I grew up in a strong English household - both of my parents are published authors and my mother was a Literature professor. I spent 6 years teaching English in China and 2 as an assistant at SDSU. Since then, I have taught a variety of classes from cooking to history to virtual field trips. Today I mostly focus on corporate training and business English, but enjoy teaching all levels.

I’ve taught for over 15 years, so I can draw on many types of lessons. My main focus is on confidence, making connections, and personalizing education.
A typical lesson includes:
- Warm up with slang, news, or social media item
- Review of homework game (homework is very important, even just 5 minutes)
- Main grammar or vocabulary lesson
Always relevant to students needs

Explores exceptions and special cases
- Practice activity to use grammar or vocabulary in real life setting
- Assign homework
- Play game, closing activity, or time for questions
With proper engagement and review, you will notice progress after only a few classes. While I focus on business English, I enjoy working with all levels and ages.
