About Ching Lok
I am a highly experienced and professionally qualified Economics educator with over 20 years of teaching experience across secondary and post-16 education. I hold a Master of Education, a PGDE in Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics, and I am a registered teacher with extensive classroom and one-to-one tutoring experience.
Throughout my career, I have taught GCSE Business, GCSE and A-level Economics, supporting students of varying abilities to build strong subject knowledge, develop effective exam technique, and gain confidence in their learning. I have also worked as a public examination marker, which gives me a clear understanding of assessment standards, common pitfalls, and what examiners are looking for in high-scoring answers.
My teaching style is structured, supportive, and results-focused. I take time to understand each student’s starting point and learning needs, and I tailor lessons carefully to ensure progress is clear and measurable. I place strong emphasis on clarity of explanation, exam skills, and independent thinking, helping students feel confident and well-prepared for assessments.
I am committed to maintaining a professional, respectful, and encouraging learning environment, where students feel supported and motivated to achieve their best. My aim is not only to improve grades, but also to help students develop confidence, discipline, and long-term learning skills.

My tutoring approach is structured, exam-focused, and highly personalised, built on over 20 years of teaching experience across primary and secondary education, with specialist expertise in Economics at A-level and GCSE.
I begin by assessing each student’s current level, strengths, and gaps in understanding, then design lessons that are targeted and goal-driven. I focus on:
Clear explanation of key concepts using real-world examples
Step-by-step exam technique, including how to structure answers for different question types
Model answers and examiner insight, drawing on my experience as a public examination marker
Active questioning and guided practice to build confidence and independent thinking
Regular feedback with clear targets for improvement
For Economics, I place strong emphasis on application, analysis, and evaluation, helping students move beyond memorisation to higher-level thinking required for top grades.
Typical Length of a Lesson
A standard lesson is 60 minutes, which allows time for explanation, guided practice, and feedback. Longer sessions (90 minutes) are available for exam preparation or intensive revision, especially closer to assessments.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold a Master of Education (Educational Guidance), a PGDE in Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics, and I am a registered teacher with extensive classroom and tutoring experience. I have taught A-level, GCSE, and KS3, and have also worked as an Economics examination marker, giving me strong insight into marking criteria and common student mistakes.
My lessons are suitable for:
A-level Economics students (Years 12–13)
GCSE Economics and Business students
I work particularly well with students who:
Want to improve exam technique and confidence
Are aiming for higher grades
Need clear explanations and structured guidance, including EAL learners
My aim is not only to improve results, but also to help students develop confidence, clarity, and independent learning skills.
