About Jenny
I am a qualified primary school teacher and Modern Foreign Languages graduate from the University of Edinburgh, with over 12 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have lived and worked in Spain for several years and have also taught in France, giving me first-hand experience of living abroad and learning and using languages in different environments.
I have taught English to children and adults in the UK, France and Spain, both as a private tutor and in language colleges. I have experience teaching learners of different ages and abilities, from young children to adults, and enjoy helping students develop their confidence and ability in English.
I hold both CELTA and TEFL qualifications and now work as a private tutor in York, offering EFL lessons both online and in person. I am friendly, patient and enthusiastic, and particularly enjoy helping learners discover that using English can be both useful and enjoyable.

I offer English as a Foreign Language lessons tailored to the individual needs, age and level of each student. I have experience teaching both children and adults, from complete beginners to more advanced learners, and can adapt lessons to suit different learning goals.
Lessons can focus on developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. I use a variety of activities and resources, including conversation, games and real-life situations, to make lessons engaging and relevant.
For children and young people, I can provide additional support with schoolwork and help develop confidence in using English. For adults, lessons can be tailored to individual needs, whether that is improving general communication, developing fluency or building confidence in everyday English.
I aim to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere where students feel comfortable practising English and making mistakes. My lessons are carefully planned and adapted as students progress, ensuring that they are appropriately challenged while enjoying their learning.
