About Sonja
I was raised in a remote Alaskan fishing village, where resources were scare and transactions that were accomplished depended on the ability to effectively communicate cross-culturally and to develop productive relationships with incredibly diverse people. I am presently a tutor in the ESL/ELL and Transitional Studies department at Bellingham Technical College. I provide individual and small group tutoring in multiple subjects

Presently, I assist students in improving academic achievements by meeting with them to clarify leaning problems and work on study skills. I like to really delve into personal learning style and lifestyle so that I can suggest tips and techniques that will best fit for each individual student. I try to elicit critical thinking in learners by providing individualized aid and coaching to enable them to become a successful, independent learners. To do this, I used a multi-disciplinary approach that integrates effective study and learning strategies to maximize the tutee's potential for academic progress. And I used humor, lots of humor!
