About Rolf

I am a French tutor in training for many years. I use modern, tried and tested methods designed to build learners’ confidence, ability and fluency in reading, writing, listening and speaking. I tutor one to one or in groups of up to 15 learners.

About the lesson

To begin with, I get to know my learners: who they are, prior leaning, do they speak other languages, their reasons for learning, their preferred methods of learning, their difficulties/problems , likes and dislikes, their level, who they will be comunicating with socially, professionally. I also need to know what the learners want to achieve and the available time.
This information provides the starting point. For me, a good rapport with my learners is essential for successful teaching and learning. To make the course enjoyable, lessons will be in a context of interest to the learners. In the course of a lesson, activities will be varied to suit the learners learning styles and to allow for controlled and free practice. Constructive and timely feedback will give guidance and boost learners’ confidence. Regular assessment will highlight areas for revision as well as the learning that has taken place.
