About Ana
I have been a gardener for over 20 years.
I'm a former university teacher (different subject) and now a co-director and trustee of a community garden in NE Scotland. I have planted gardens for friends, ran workshops for beginners and given gardening advice to local groups.

I tailor the content to the aims, experience and intended outcomes of each tutee. They can range from a windowsill kitchen garden to a sensory garden in a balcony. I teach as a series of one-hour informal workshops covering two main areas:
1. Garden design, including:
- orientation, sun exposure (aspect), heat retention features, prevailing winds
- layout, planning for the seasons, planting schemes, layering
- seating (furniture), lighting
2. Gardening, including:
- choosing the right plants for the right place
- soil and watering
- containers and planters
- propagating from cuttings and seeds.
Gardening is for everyone. A pot, a balcony, a patio, a tiny garden or a windowsill can be made beautiful. It doesn't have to cost a fortune and you don't need to have prior experience.
All ages welcome.
