Methodology
I adopt a Diagnosis Therapy Testing approach to teaching English.
Diagnose - determine gaps in knowledge / skills / understanding
Therapy - Provide tuition and expertise to help students improve their weakest areas
Testing - Offer miniature assessments and writing tasks (centred around their GCSE specification) and in turn deliver feedback and advice preparing students for examinations
It is also important for me to get to know my students on a personal level, in order to cater my tuition to the individual and ensure tuition is as engaging as possible.
Experience
I am an experienced English specialist (BA Honours in English Literature with Fine Art) and have taught English at KS3 and KS4 for several years, helping hundreds of students to achieve their full potential in English whilst gaining a deeper love and understanding of the subject.
I have also been a personal tutor outside of my day to day work as a Secondary School Teacher for four years now, gaining great satisfaction from helping individual students achieve their dream grades in English at GCSE level.
Finally, I am an examiner for one of the main exam boards for GCSE English Language, giving me a great understanding of the nuances of English GCSE examinations; in turn enabling me to pass on my knowledge and insight to students eager to perform their best.
