About Shane
Hi, I’m a guitar tutor with over 11 years of experience, combining my academic training in a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music (Guitar) with practical performance across rock, classical, folk, and blues. I’ve spent years performing, composing, and teaching, which gives me a well-rounded approach to guitar education. I enjoy helping both young learners and adult students build technical skills while developing confidence in their playing. My lessons are designed to balance technique, theory, and creativity, tailored to each student’s pace and goals. I focus on making learning enjoyable, whether it’s mastering a favorite song, improving finger dexterity, or exploring improvisation. Through structured exercises and fun musical challenges, I encourage students to express themselves through music. I believe every student can find their unique voice on the guitar with the right guidance. My approach blends discipline with inspiration, ensuring progress while nurturing a passion for music. My teaching approach focuses on helping students grow as musicians while enjoying every step of learning. I start by understanding each student’s goals and musical tastes. Lessons are structured to build strong fundamentals in guitar techniques, chord progressions, and music theory. I guide students through classical and jazz styles, helping them master precision, rhythm, and improvisation.
I encourage students to use music as a way to relieve stress and express emotions. Playing guitar becomes a tool for building confidence and exploring creativity. I include exercises that improve finger strength, timing, and ear training while keeping lessons fun and engaging.
Each session is adapted to the student’s pace, ensuring they feel supported while being challenged. I help students explore different styles and experiment with composing their own music. Collaboration and practice are key parts of my method, helping students enjoy music while achieving their goals.
