About Me
I am a passionate and experienced Geography teacher with 23 years’ experience teaching Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Geography. I have also worked as an Advising Examiner for 10 years, giving me a valuable insight into the examination process and the standards required to achieve strong results.
I believe that every student can make progress when they are given the right support, encouragement and guidance. My approach is friendly, patient and encouraging, and I work hard to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their confidence.
Having spent many years teaching and examining, I understand that students learn in different ways and may need support with different aspects of Geography. Some students need help building their knowledge, while others understand the material but need guidance on how to turn that knowledge into marks in an examination.
I take pride in being professional, approachable and fully committed to my students. My lessons are carefully planned and tailored to the individual, with a strong focus on building confidence, improving examination technique and helping each student achieve their potential.

My Approach to Geography Tutoring
With 23 years’ experience teaching Geography and 10 years’ experience as an Advising Examiner, I offer students expert, personalised tuition for both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Geography.
My aim is simple: to help students understand Geography, build confidence and achieve the best grade they are capable of.
I provide friendly, structured and engaging online lessons through Microsoft Teams or Zoom, tailored to each student’s individual needs. Whether a student is struggling with a particular topic, needs help organising their revision, or wants to maximise their exam performance, I adapt my teaching to suit them.
How I Teach
My lessons combine strong subject knowledge with a clear focus on examination success. I:
Break difficult topics down into clear, manageable sections.
Explain geographical concepts in a way that is easy to understand and remember.
Work through past examination questions and marking schemes.
Teach students how to structure and develop strong examination answers.
Identify gaps in knowledge and target areas that need improvement.
Provide constructive feedback so students understand how to improve.
Develop examination technique, revision strategies and confidence.
My 10 years as an Advising Examiner give me valuable insight into what examiners are looking for and the common mistakes that can prevent students from achieving higher grades. I use this experience to show students how to turn their knowledge into marks.
Lesson Length
Lessons are typically one hour and take place online via Teams or Zoom. Longer sessions can be arranged where appropriate, particularly for students preparing intensively for examinations.
Experience
I am a qualified Geography teacher with 23 years of classroom experience, teaching at both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate level. My experience as an Advising Examiner for 10 years has given me an in-depth understanding of the Leaving Certificate examination and assessment process.
Parents can therefore be confident that their child is receiving tuition from a teacher who understands both the subject and the examination system.
