About Esther

I’m Esther, a secondary maths teacher with five years of experience teaching students aged 11–18. I trained at the University of Oxford, where I developed strong subject knowledge and a clear, structured teaching style. Since qualifying, I’ve achieved record-breaking GCSE results in both Foundation and Higher Maths, and my teaching has been consistently graded ‘outstanding’. I’m committed to helping students build confidence, understand the subject deeply, and feel proud of their progress.

About the lesson

As a dedicated secondary maths teacher, I design lessons that are calm, clear, and tailored to each student. Sessions are usually one hour and begin with a short skills check to pinpoint starting points. For Year 10 and Year 11, I use data-tracking to identify strengths, gaps, and priority topics for GCSE success. My teaching blends straightforward explanations, guided practice, and exam-style questions to build confidence steadily. Lessons are suitable for students aged 11–16 at any level, and with five years of teaching and tutoring experience, I ensure every learner feels supported and able to progress.

I can’t recommend Esther highly enough. She has been tutoring my son in maths since Year 8 and, now that he is in Year 11, has done an exceptional job of helping him understand maths and build his confidence.

As a GCSE Maths teacher herself, Esther is extremely knowledgeable and has a real ability to explain things clearly and in a way that makes sense to him. She is patient, encouraging and adapts her approach to suit him.

Most importantly, my son really likes Esther and enjoys working with her. We feel very lucky to have found her and would highly recommend her.

Esther is a fantastic tutor! Esther assessed my son's current level of understanding and formulated a weekly step by step plan to address the areas of development and build his confidence in Maths. My son looked forward to his weekly sessions with her and she was very patient explaining difficult concepts to him."

My daughter is currently in year 10 and has been having Maths lessons with Esther since last year. Her understanding of Maths has significantly improved. Esther's approach is very calm and reassuring and this is exactly what my daughter needs to improve her confidence in her abilities and capabilities. The lessons centre around the topics my daughter finds difficult as well as the national curriculum for GCSE Maths. Esther uses a wealth of resources including past paper type exam questions to reinforce her teaching. She is always punctual for lessons, reliable and extremely flexible. Esther has been a genuinely amazing Maths tutor and I would have no hesitation in recommending her!
