About Andrea

I gained a degree in Music at the University of Bangor and then completed a PGCE at Ulster University. I play piano and violin and am a keen folk singer. I have been teaching classroom music to students in key stages 3 to 5 in secondary schools in the UK and in Hong Kong for over 30 years, including delivery of GCSE and A level Music specifications. I have entered students for theory examinations right up to grade 8 and have achieved an almost perfect pass rate.

About the lesson

All students have specific strengths and weaknesses, so I tailor my lessons to the individual. I use the piano and various software packages to supplement the essential manuscript and pen traditional approach. I achieved a distinction in grade 5 theory at age 11 and I am heavily influenced by the way in which I was taught many years ago. It worked for me so I see no reason to change it!
