About Ellis
I am a London-based pianist and teacher with extensive experience as both a performer and educator. I studied Music at the University of Cambridge, graduating with First-Class Honours, before completing a Master’s degree in Piano at the Royal Academy of Music, where I was awarded the DipRAM for an outstanding final recital. I also hold the LRAM teaching qualification.
Alongside my studies, I have built an active performance career in the UK and internationally, including appearances on television and radio, and performances as a soloist with ensembles such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
I work with students ranging from beginners through to advanced pianists preparing for conservatoire auditions, diplomas, and high-level performance exams.
My focus is on developing secure technique, musical understanding, and performance confidence in a structured and disciplined way, while keeping lessons engaging and musically rewarding.

My teaching is structured, focused, and tailored to each student’s individual goals and level. For beginners, I prioritise building secure technical foundations, reading skills, and musical understanding from the outset. For more advanced students, I work in depth on interpretation, technical refinement, and performance preparation for graded exams, diplomas, and conservatoire auditions.
I place particular emphasis on developing independence at the instrument — helping students to practise effectively, solve problems efficiently, and build confidence in their own musical decision-making.
Alongside piano, I offer support in music theory, aural skills, and performance preparation, ensuring students develop as complete and well-rounded musicians. Lessons are calm, disciplined, and structured, with a clear focus on measurable progress over time.
My aim is to help each student achieve a high standard of musicianship while maintaining a genuine sense of engagement and enjoyment in their playing.
