About Jade
I am a dedicated science educator with a strong academic foundation and over a decade of teaching experience. I hold a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Old Dominion University and am completing my Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout my career, I have worked with students across K–12, undergraduate, and graduate levels, helping them build a solid understanding of biological concepts and develop confidence in their ability to succeed in STEM.
I believe that learning should be both accessible and empowering. My approach focuses on clarity, patience, and real-world application, allowing students to connect complex scientific ideas to their coursework and future goals. I take pride in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and strengthening their academic capabilities.
My goal as a tutor is to help students not only improve their grades, but also cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and independence in their learning.

My lessons are designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and make science approachable for students at every level. I combine structured instruction with active learning techniques—breaking down complex biological and microbiological concepts into digestible pieces and reinforcing them through discussion, visuals, and real-world examples.
A typical lesson begins with a brief check-in to assess the student’s understanding and goals for that session. From there, we move into targeted content review, problem-solving, and application-based exercises. I end each session with a short recap and personalized recommendations to strengthen mastery and prepare for upcoming classes or exams.
With over 10 years of experience working with K–12, undergraduate, and graduate students, I tailor each lesson to the learner’s academic needs, learning style, and pace. What sets me apart is my ability to translate advanced scientific knowledge into clear, accessible instruction—especially for students who feel overwhelmed or disconnected from STEM subjects.
My lessons are ideal for students studying biology, microbiology, immunology, biotechnology, and related fields. Support is available for coursework, standardized testing, lab-based learning, scientific writing, and exam preparation across K–12 through graduate-level programs.
