I believe in an interactive teaching and learning style where students are empowered to have an active input into their learning. I am also an advocate of a relaxed environment, however with some clear outline of expectations for both sides (tutor and student).
I am a qualified academic tutor and a professional training and personal mentor with 13 years of teaching experience in the Higher Education sector. I have also worked as a private tutor for foundation year students preparing them for the first year of their undegradaute studies and/or A levels. My academic expertise is in a variety of Social Sciences subjects including: Sociology, Politics, Geography, Psychology, Media Studies, Business Studies, but also History and Lingustics. I have also been tutoring students in practical skills of academic writing, presentation skills and career and employability advice (tutoring them in how to apply for jobs, write CVs and cover letters and how to interview effectively). I have delivered teaching to large and medium groups of students, but I particularly enjoy 1-1 sessions with students as I believe that building an individual rapport greatly aids the learning process. I believe in an interactive, relaxed teaching and learning style to keep the subject topical and relate it as much as possible to an every day life and to continue to highlight its applicability to either student's further studies or to their future employment.
