About Roksana
Arabic and Darija are languages that I have a passion for, and I want to do all I can to encourage a love for Arabic in other people as well.
My experience with Arabic comes mostly from the NSLI-Y study abroad scholarship in Rabat, Morocco where I studied MSA as well as Darija. There I lived with multiple host families, participated in excursions and cultural projects, as well as taught English at a youth center in Yacoub al-Mansour, Rabat.
As far as credentials, I placed into Advanced-High on the ACTFL, which is a standard conversational test given to determine profiency in foreign languages.
I hope to be able to encourage confidence in a language that may seem intimidating and complicated, and show people how beautiful Arabic and Darija can be.
I taught english at a youth center in Rabat, Morocco for about 5 months. Most of the students had no prior English skills, but by the end of the classes nearly all of them had the language skills necessary for basic daily interractions like going to the cornerstore, greetings, talking about the weather, talking about clothing and asking for what they need.

I find it most effective to start off with conversation to determine the areas that a student would benefit most from working on. I also believe that it's important to find out what methods work best with a particular student, and then structure the material from there.
