About Simone
My name is Simone Douglas. I recently defended my PhD in Biomedical Engineering (joint program at Georgia Tech and Emory University). I also have a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Miami. I have experience TAing undergraduate courses at Georgia Tech and teaching/mentoring high school and undergradaute students, finding creative ways to break down information to help students learn and understand concepts. Recently, I earned my Tech to Teaching Certificate, a multi-semester preparing future faculty program that includes pedagogy training and practice from the Georgia Tech Cener for Teaching and Learning.
Contact me for STEM related tutoring for K-12, especially math (algebra & geometry) and science (chemistry & biology).
STEM education is important to me. I want to help others understand math and science, seeing practical applications but also how much fun it can be! I love helping students understand concepts; sometimes they just need to learn something from a different perspective and I like to try and tap into that. Seeing the joy on a student's face when they "get it" makes me excited; nothing beats the feeling of providing a student with clarity.

I try to get to know a student first and make them feel comfortable. For older students, I like to ask them about what their learning and study style is like. And for younger stuents through working with them, we can figure out their optimal working style.
