About Ricky
Weekly lessons are offered for students of all levels and ages. An individualized and thoughtful lesson plan will be provided on a weekly basis which will be based on the students musical needs and skill level.
I am from Dallas, Texas but moved to Pittsburgh to study with Michael Rusinek of the Pittsburgh Symphony. I received my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University and my Master of Music and Advanced Music Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University.
Getting to help students reach their goals and seeing their improvement from week to week. Everyone learns differently so it is a lot of fun to try different things and find the specific way that each student will thrive.
I started teaching immediately after my freshman year at Southern Methodist University. I knew that I wanted to teach and wanted to start gaining experience working with students so I contacted all of the middle and high school bands in the area and began building a studio with students of all levels.

Typically, I first like to have the student play something they want to play for me - anything they know or like to play! From here, I can take that information and use it to form a plan and we can address fundamentals or skills that need to be worked on.
Students of all levels! From beginners in the 5th grade all the way up to advanced students preparing for college!
It is important to find a teacher and a teaching style that works for you! Try out a lesson and decide if you can see yourself working with that person.
