About Mel
I train kids and adults to reach their goals whether its dance, fitness or a specific goal. I strive to teach my students not only to be better dancers but better people by showing them how to use dance knowledge and discipline in their everyday lives.
My favorite things about my line of work is seeing the smiles on my students faces when they're having fun or achieving a goal! Dance is ment to be fun even if you're trying to make it into a career or it already is one. I inspire my students and they inspire me. It's the most rewarding thing I've ever experienced.
I started teaching at my old Dance studio when I was 13. I started out just teaching ages 3-7. Then in high school I got my first teaching opportunity at a studio and was teaching kids 5-18. After high school Teaching became my main job where I taught at 5 different dance studios a week and would teach guest intensives at other studios. I have continued teaching going on my 6th year of proffesionally teaching.
Mel St. Cyr is a native from New Hampshire and has been dancing for 18 years. Her training and experience has included Alvin Ailey Summer intensive, Joffrey Ballet School, and consistent training at The Jeannette Neill Dance Studio in Boston, MA. She has also been a part of professional groups such as Boston Community Dance Project, The Concept Artists, Static Noyze Dance Company, and Project Nailz attending major events like World of Dance, NYC Carnival Choreographer's Ball, and Prelude Urban Dance Competition. Her training has also brought her performance opportunities to be involved in Rolling Loud NYC, Rhythm City’s: Cosmological Warriors China Tour, Broadway in Boston: Dirty Dancing, NYC Dance Parade, and National Dance Day broadcasted on FOX's So You Think You Can Dance! Mel has also enjoyed assisting at major dance conventions and teaching at various dance studios around the New York area. working with artists like Chinese Kitty, Lil Mama,Sarah-Katarina "SKooJ", Alonzo Williams, DOMO, Ari B, 4ward Productions, and McCarthy Visuals has brought Mel to where she currently teaches and trains in Los Angeles.

I always start by asking key questions to know what the goals and intentions of my students. Then, from there I create a lesson plan that works with the class schedule. I always include strength and flexibility Exercises and the rest depends on the student.
I have worked and taught students ages 3-60. Nowadays I prefer to teach ages 6+.
To view there credentials and resume over a diploma or school education. In the dance industry No one looks at what school you went to or your degree because it actually means and proves nothing. Your Resume and experiences are mist important!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should ask any questions anytime! No time is a bad time for a question and there is no such thing as a bad question

Details
Usually I charge $50 for a 1 hour, 1 person private lesson. Then $15 dollars per head after that if you are interested in doing group privates. However, with the pandemic I am offering virtual lessons through zoom and facetime. Virtual lessons will be $30 an hour and $10 per head after that. In person lessons will remain normal price.
