The best educator is someone who inspires students to be curious and learn about the world.
I am passionate about guiding students to teach themselves. I believe that a professor's role is to help students learn how to learn and be curious about the universe and themselves. I provide students with a safe place for them to do just this. With my compassion and sense of humor, students feel comfortable stepping into new territories, exploring new ideas and establishing their own goals and personal challenges.
There are many teachers that can recite information and require memorization but I structure my classroom activities with many exercises the redirect and reframe each student's thinking. I focus on exercises that have multiple ways of learning a concept and require critical thinking. A student must be encouraged to grow in whatever way they want to grow. I focus on presenting information from many angles and many perspectives so that the student can excel in their own way and ideally at their own pace.
I am inspired when my knowledge and experience sparks new creative learning for a young student.
