About AARON

I have always been a natural teacher. Maybe it comes from being a know-it-all! ;)
Aaron studied painting at East Carolina University, and holds a bachelors degree from Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied communication arts, painting, and English. He continued his art education at the graduate level by studying painting at George Mason University. Aaron’s illustrations have been presented in the pages of Time, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and many others. A former assistant professor of design, he taught art at George Mason and Northern Virginia Community College. He exhibits nationally and is in numerous institutional and private collections.

The process depends on the student. Beginners need lessons in the basics, drawing, color, supplies, paint handling, studio setup. More advanced students need specific feedback and guidance that fits their preferences and skill set. All students need patience and gentle encouragement.
Youngsters from 8 - 16. Highschool juniors and seniors. Post high-school and college age. Adults.
Look for someone whose work you really like, and who seems to be easygoing.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try to have some sense of who you are as an artist. To get there, it helps to have "looked around", to have researched and formed some personal opinions about what you like and don't like. Both are important. And of course, your likes will change as you grow and mature. But we need to start somewhere!
